Muni

Understand your city.

OpenMuni helps you explore supported Massachusetts datasets and ask questions with source citations, collection freshness, and coverage limits. Coverage currently includes Cambridge, Boston, cleared Charles River datasets, and MBTA Subway snapshots; it is not statewide.

Every registered Muni account gets unlimited research during development. No subscription is required. Sign-up is currently restricted.

Subscriptions help fund continued development for $9.99/month plus applicable tax, with no automatic overage charges.

Public information stays public.

Muni's public browsing remains free. Subscriptions fund research tools, reliable collection, and broader municipal coverage. Dataset access depends on source-specific reuse review. OpenMuni explains missing and incomplete coverage.

Your research

Questions and selected source evidence are processed through Amazon Bedrock in the United States. Private conversation history is kept for 30 days and can be deleted in OpenMuni. Encrypted OpenMuni backups expire within seven days; deletion records are reapplied during recovery. Authorized administrators can review submitted questions, processing outcomes, and optional answer ratings to improve the service. Review records follow the same 30-day retention and history deletion rules. Avoid including sensitive personal information. Usage and billing records are kept separately.

All registered accounts have unlimited research during development. Individual requests have execution limits. Answers can be incomplete or incorrect. Follow the cited official sources to verify important details. Subway answers are timestamped snapshots.
